After more than 20 years of treating substance use disorders, I have learned that good treatment is about more than choosing the right medication. It is about knowing the person you are treating—their history, their goals, what has worked, what hasn’t, and where they are trying to go.

That is why I practice through a Direct Physician Care model. My patients work directly with me throughout their treatment rather than being passed from one provider to another. Over time, that relationship builds trust and gives me the opportunity to personalize treatment based on the individual in front of me.

Recovery is rarely a perfectly straight line. When someone struggles, my goal is not to judge them or dismiss them from care. It is to understand what happened, help them regain stability, and get them moving forward again.
